Can a machine act intelligently? Are human intelligence and AI the same? Can a machine have a mind, state of mind, and consciousness similar to that of a human?

Philosophers, artificial intelligence researchers and cognitive scientists are addressing these questions. Overall, the answers depend on the definitions of “intelligence” and “consciousness”, and which “machines” we are talking about.

Since the 1950s, several theses have attempted to establish the main lines of AI . The proposal from the Dartmouth conference, for example, states that “every aspect of learning or any other characteristic of intelligence can be so precisely detailed that a machine could be created to simulate them”.
