Bowen tied the knot with Scott Phillips, a land finance investor and programming designer, on September 9, 2004. The couple now has two children together. The pair is parents to three children: the couple’s first kid, who was conceived in April 2007; twins, who were conceived in May 2009; and the couple’s main child, who was conceived in April 2007; she was visibly pregnant with them when they shot the pilot for Modern Family. Her self-perception is that she is a “low Protestant.” She filed for divorce from Phillips in February of 2018, and the divorce was finalised on September 13 of that same year.
Bowen has said that being a mom has considerably strengthened her commitment to environmental preservation and activism. In 2002, Bowen contributed one thousand dollars to the campaign of Republican Helen Delich Bentley, who was running for Maryland’s second location in the House of Representatives of the United States of America. In 2016, Bowen had an appearance in the music video “Battle Song,” which was inspired by Pitch Perfect.
