Khan was born in Toronto, Ontario, to Pakistani parents. He received his education and grew up in a Pakistani family. Both of her parents are working adults, but her mother stays at home to take care of the children. She has two sisters, one of whom is older than she is and the other of whom is younger. Khan is descended from both Pashtun and Punjabi peoples.
She conducted her tutoring from Toronto, but eventually her family moved to Manchester, where she attended the University of Manchester and earned an honours degree in business administration. She also did her tutoring from Toronto. In later years, she attended classes on technical acting at both the Ealing Studios and the Pinewood Studios. She has Pakistani citizenship as well as Canadian citizenship, as the on-screen actress has revealed, making her a dual citizen of both countries. Khan pursued a career in modelling in 2010, prior to transitioning into the acting industry.
