Story Summary

The plot unfolds in Chitral, where Dr Ubadah Selim, a veterinary doctor from Lahore, is called to the Sardar Haveli to treat six paralysed polo horses ahead of the famous Shandur Polo Festival.

At the haveli, Ubadah meets Gul Lala, an educated, bold gold medalist who dreams of playing polo despite rigid patriarchal rules. Investigating the horses' sudden illness, Ubadah discovers that they are being systematically poisoned. While suspicion initially falls on the volatile cousin Ibtihaj, evidence exposes the true mastermind: the polished, London-educated Ghazaan Khan, who poisoned the horses to manipulate tribal inheritance.

At the same time, an 18-year-old murder mystery regarding Gul's biological father comes to light. Driven by justice, Gul files charges against the real killers. In an electrifying climax at the Shandur festival, Gul steps onto the field, plays brilliantly, and reclaims her father's legendary horse, while the police arrest Ghazaan and his accomplices. The story concludes with the Sardar abolishing autocratic tribal rules in favour of legal justice, alongside a sweet, romantic proposal for Gul.
