As a bonding glue, most often they used “spirituality”, “conciliarity” and any other “aesthetics”. In the list of names, some were replaced by others (relatively speaking, Fadeev – Solzhenitsyn), but our school philology did not turn into a “science of understanding” (according to S. Averintsev’s formula) and enjoyment of the text. There are, of course, exceptions. Among those I know are a very good textbook by E.S. Abeluk and K.M. Polivanov, author’s programs by L.I.Sobolev and N.A. Shapiro (all of the above are Muscovites; I know the St. Petersburg and provincial situation worse), but I’m afraid , these exceptions hardly change the general sad situation.
