The principle of operation of e-ink is quite simple and is based on the phenomenon of electrophoresis known from the school physics course. If you place a gel or liquid between the electrodes (one charged positively, the other negatively), then the charged particles in the gel “crawl” to the opposite electrode. In electronic paper, a pixel corresponds to a small capsule containing black and white charged particles. By manipulating the charge of the electrodes, you can control their movement: for example, make black particles rise to the end of the capsule that faces the user’s eyes.
