Nikhila Vimal’s mother and father, Pavithran and Kalamandalam Vimaladevi, gave birth to Nikhila Vimal in Taliparamba, Kerala. While her mother is a creative, her father has left his office and retired from public service. Her older sister Akhila Vimal is now working at Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi as an exploratory researcher in the Theater arts department. Nikhila Vimal was trained in Bharata Natyam, Kuchipudi, Kerala Natanam, and monoact; in addition, she built a name for herself performing in youth festivities. In 2016, she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Botany from Sir Syed College in Taliparamba.

She started her career as an actress on television, appearing in a story about Saint Alphonsa that was shown on Shalom TV. This was the beginning of her professional acting career. Her first appearance on a major motion picture came in 2015, when she played the female lead role in Love 247, a film directed by Sreebala K. Menon in which she also starred with Dileep. Her first film in Tamil was called Panjumittai, in which she plays Ma Ka Pa Anand’s opposite role as the film’s female protagonist. Her next Tamil movie is titled Onbathu Kuzhi Sampath, and it has not yet been released to the public. Vetrivel was the name of her first release in Tamil (2016). She appeared in the movie in the role of Latha, which was one of three strong female characters. Her performance at Vetrivel (2016) received praise from everyone who saw it.
In spite of the fact that her part was very uncomplicated, people noticed her for her performance in the movie. Nikhila then had the notion to play the major role of a couple to Sasikumar once again in M. Sasikumar’s own composition Kidaari (2016). Her Telugu first film is Meda Meeda Abbayi starring entertainer Allari Naresh. Aravindante Athidhikal, her third film in the Malayalam language, was also well received by the audience. In the SIIMA Awards for 2017, Nikhila Vimal was given the award for Best Debut Actress for her performance in Kidaari. Nikhila Vimal won the Popular Actress Award for her role as Aravindante Athidhikal in the film Kerala Kaumudi Flash in 2019. Additionally, she was awarded the prize for best star pair of the year at the Vanitha Film Awards 2019 for her work in Aravindante Athidhikal.
