Sarah Shahi Professional Life
After hearing a song simply titled “Sarah” while she was in the second grade, Shahi decided to change her name to Sarah. She did this because she was “tormented” by other children because of the unusual nature of her birth name. In addition to English, she was instructed to speak Persian by her father when she was little, and she did so. At the age of eight, Shahi’s parents began enrolling her into beauty contests with their other children. After graduating from Trinity High School, where she captained the volleyball and basketball teams, Shahi continued her education at Southern Methodist University, where she majored in English and Theater. During her stay at SMU, she was an active member of the Alpha Chi Omega fraternity. In 1997, Shahi was crowned the winner of the Miss Fort Worth competition. Even though she had never cheered before, she decided to try out for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (1999–2000) team in order to prepare herself for a career as an actor. After that, she relocated to the city of Los Angeles.
Shahi met director Robert Altman when she was working as an extra on the arrangement Dr. T and the Women in Texas. He encouraged her to relocate to Hollywood, where she obtained parts in a few other arrangements, including Alias, Dawson’s Creek, Reba, and Supernatural. She made her first appearance on The L Word in 2005, playing the supporting role of DJ Carmen de la Pica Morales, and she continued to appear on the programme throughout its successive seasons. After the conclusion of the fourth season, Shahi’s role was rewritten, and her two-year contract was not renewed as it had been previously planned. In 2007, she began playing the character of criminal criminologist Dani Reese on the NBC television series Life, co-starring with Damian Lewis in the role. This was her first changeable main role on a television series. The agreement was in place for a total of two seasons.
In the premiere episode of Facing Kate, which aired on the USA Network in October 2009, Shahi played the starring role. In November of 2009, Shahi began filming his scenes. The programme chronicled the life of Kate Reed, a legal go between who was dissatisfied with the organisation and foul play that she saw in the legal system. Her story was told via episodes. After some time, the name of the agreement was changed to Fairly Legal. After two successful seasons, the programme was cancelled in November of 2012. In May of 2013, CBS President Nina Tassler said that Shahi will be a part of its third season as a standard arrangement. This news came shortly after the premiere of the show. She was cast as the daughter of Sylvester Stallone’s character in the action movie Bullet to the Head In, which was also her first time working with co-star Jason Momoa, whom she would later go on to collaborate with again in the film Road to Paloma, which Momoa directed in 2014.
In February of 2016, she was cast in the role of the legendary criminologist Nancy Drew as part of a TV adaptation of the book series that was organised in advance. CBS decided not to go through with the deal in May 2016, and the producers of the programme said that they will continue looking for another network to broadcast the show. In addition, throughout the month of May, Shahi kept up her appearances on Person of Interest as Shaw, which she did up until June 21, 2016, the day the programme was cancelled. In 2019, Shahi became a regular cast member on the Showtime series City on a Hill, playing the role of Rachel Behnam, an examiner working for the chief prosecutor.
