Belarusian writers Zhvalevsky and Pasternak to release a new book
But speed isn’t everything. Professor of the Department of Human Ecology at Northern University Lyudmila Sokolova undertook to investigate the psychophysical foundations of reading. She conducted an experiment, during which the physiological reactions of the body were recorded during reading from different media. And it turned out that the activity of the sympathetic nervous system (which excites the activity of the heart) when reading a paper book increases by 31.68%, and when reading an electronic book – by 17.23%. That is, a paper book makes us empathize with what is happening twice as much as an electronic medium.
