British School of Fashion England UK

About:

Dedicated to its mission of achieving the ‘common good’, the British School of Fashion develops thinking and practice in business and management through co-creation of knowledge with its industry partners, esteemed emeritus professors, alumni network, active research collaborators and diverse student population.

In demonstrating its entrepreneurial nature, the British School of Fashion develops and delivers globally unique performing and postgraduate programs that offer participants a transdiscipline learning experience on their campuses in London and New York.

During this era, our main goal was to provide women with opportunities in the fields of design, textiles and retail, with a deep understanding of the economic, social and environmental needs of the time. British fashion has evolved to encompass much more than just manufacturing, and the education provided by the GCU British Fashion School reflects this change.

For decades, GCU has contributed to the development of fashion through the creation of innovative courses. We were the first UK institution to offer an MA in International Fashion Marketing in 2000 and are still one of the few universities worldwide to offer a dedicated MBA in Brand Management.

The British School of Fashion intends to build on the foundation provided by our strong heritage and fashion expertise through the continuous introduction of new programs and investments and the development of our academic faculty.

We offer differentiated master’s programs created jointly by the expertise of our honorary professors, the knowledge of academic experts, and the innovation and energy of our students.

We integrate the latest academic thinking with the broader business knowledge we gain from our research and contemporary business practice consulting.

Through these close connections, we are able to provide master classes from the world’s leading companies, as well as opportunities for significant internships, visits and live project.

We ensure that our graduates have the skills and knowledge required to manage a fashion business in today’s global marketplace. We challenge our students to become critical thinkers, with a competent understanding of theories and concepts that help explain and advance business best practices.

Our university motto “For the common good” – which means “for the common good” – is the main theme in all of our British Fashion School initiatives. Our Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Yunus, is our chief spokesman in this regard, having received the Nobel Peace Prize for achievements in economic and social development. Professor Yunus also remains one of seven people who have been recognized with the Nobel Peace Prize, the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal.

We recognize that the fashion industry has a responsibility to conduct business in an ethical manner and to promote and implement fair trade.

Our New York campus is home to the Fair Fashion Center. This initiative acts as a repository and conduit for information, and the focus is on exploring the business case for sustainability in the fashion industry.

In addition, the British Fashion School has responded to the worldwide call to put social responsibility, ethics and sustainability at the top of the agenda to prepare future business leaders by joining the United Nations Global Compact: Principles for Responsible Governance Education (PRME) initiative. ). Our participation in PRME demonstrates our long-term mission of providing economic and social benefits at home and around the world, and PRME’s values are at the heart of the entire British Fashion School portfolio. We will regularly report on progress regarding the application of the principles and thereby contribute to the accumulation of knowledge about academic institutions around the world participating in the PRME initiative.

Our specialized fashion knowledge is generated from a unique and critical balance of industry best practices and backed by the latest academic research.
