Institute of Development Studies: Through fair and sustainable partnerships, we work with governments, philanthropic foundations, non-governmental organizations, academics and civil society to reshape progressive social, political and economic change in ways that ultimately change people’s lives for the better.
We have helped create innovative new partnerships that have generated millions of dollars of additional tax revenue in Africa that can be reinvested in countries’ national development. We strive to find solutions to environmental problems that are based on the knowledge and practice of the local population. We have highlighted the role of local communities in ending deadly epidemics such as the Ebola virus.
Our reputation for research and international perspectives is unmatched and is reflected in our results in the latest QS World University Rankings, where we were ranked first in the world for development studies, along with the University of Sussex. We are also ranked #1 among global development think tanks in the Global Go To Think Tank Index Report 2019.
