It was in 2009 that she first attended the National Aboriginal and Islander Skills Development Association Dance College to begin her training. She was effective, performing on the visit while pondering whether or not to try out for the Aboriginal-created play Wrong Skin, which led to her being asked to try out for the production.

Hick was featured in a recovery of the Louis Nowra play The Golden Age by the Sydney Theater Company in 2016, and both her portrayal and her dance received praise for their respective efforts. In 2018, Hick started a social media campaign with the hashtag #ourkidsbelongwithfamilies. This campaign soon became a “energising cry” of Indigenous Australians fighting to keep their families together in the face of evacuations.
