About:

Here at the University of Derby we believe anything is possible. With a wide range of courses at foundation, undergraduate and graduate levels, we can help you start your career successfully. We know how important it is to have the best teaching and we are proud to be rated Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework; but we also offer much more, with some of the best university facilities in the country, opportunities for industry experience and hands-on, hands-on learning to make your research relevant to life after graduation. To help broaden your horizons, we offer a wide range of study abroad opportunities, no matter your subject – a great way to experience another culture, meet new people, and add to your resume.

Our main campus is in Derby, a high-tech city with a lot going on. The campus is located in several locations, from our main building on Kedleston Road, which is also home to our sports center and main library, to Wan Fry Gate Square, our dedicated building for law and criminology courses. A few steps away is the beautifully restored British Mill, where you can study fine arts, dance, community service or creative expressive therapy.

All of our sites provide study space and food outlets for you to relax between lectures. Over the past ten years, we have invested £200 million in our facilities, which means you will study in a high-tech environment, including a hospital ward, a multidisciplinary forensics center and the Bloomberg Financial Markets Lab. ,

Derby has free transport, accommodation and a city center so it’s easy to get around.

Our Buxton campus is a leading health and wellness city on the edge of the Peak District, one of the UK’s busiest national parks. The city provides an ideal location for our hospitality, spa, culinary arts, events, tourism and open courses. We are located in the historic Devonshire Dome and are equipped with everything you need to improve your skills, including a kitchen, a high-spec restaurant and café, and an award-winning commercial spa.

In Chesterfield, you’ll find an old and a new mix to create state-of-the-art nursing and health care courses. Among its features is the advanced Immersive Interactive Simulation Suite, which reproduces real scenarios in a safe learning environment.

Our active Student Union organizes many activities to help you make the most of your time with us. Welcome Fortnight gives you not one, but two weeks of fun when you start living at the university.

Club nights and parties will soon allow you to make friends, while outdoor cinemas and open mic nights will provide you with a slightly more relaxed holiday. Sports are offered at a competitive or social level, and societies cover a wide range of academic disciplines, hobbies, and other interests. The Union will also represent and support you throughout your stay at the university.

Derby has a vibrant and compact city center with plenty of places to eat and drink. There are movie theaters, an arts center and a good range of entertainment, from nightclubs to escape rooms, a trampoline center, a Christmas ice rink, bowling and indoor golf. If shopping is your thing, the Intu Indoor Mall is home to many popular stores, while the historic Cathedral Quarter has a few more standalone boutiques and specialty stores.

Buxton is a quieter town and a great base for outdoor activities. It is ideal for lovers of hiking, climbing, cycling or canoeing. It is also known for its artistic and cultural life, with popular summer arts festivals. There’s a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants, but it’s only a short trip to the bright lights of Manchester if you really want a big night out.

We will be glad to welcome you to the Open Day. This is the best way to see the university and ask all those questions you have about the course, city and campuses. You can take a campus tour with students, go talk about the subject you want to study, meet students and staff who can tell you what it’s like to study here, and take a tour of our housing. It has advice on applying, funding, and studying abroad, as well as access to courses, online learning, and other options.
